Prepare your Apple Account first
Apple requires you to spend your remaining Apple Account credit before switching countries or regions. Active subscriptions and unfinished transactions can also block a change.
- Check and spend your remaining Apple Account balance.
- Cancel subscriptions that prevent a region change and wait until they expire.
- Wait for pre-orders, rentals, pending refunds, and other transactions to finish.
- Check whether Family Sharing is preventing the change.
- Prepare valid payment information for the new region, if required.
Where to change your country
- Open Settings on your iPhone.
- Tap your name, then Media & Purchases.
- Choose View Account and then Country/Region.
- Select your new country or region and follow Apple’s instructions.
Having zero credit is only one requirement. Other Apple restrictions can still block a switch.
Still have a small leftover?
Try spending it on eligible purchases. Balance Reset can suggest combinations of in-app items but cannot bypass App Store rules. If the balance is below the price of any item, Apple recommends contacting Support.
If Apple still refuses to change your country
Read our more detailed App Store country troubleshooting checklist. Credit is only one condition: subscriptions, pending activity, Family Sharing and supported new-region payment details can matter. For the balance itself, see how to clear Apple Account credit.
