How to Clear Apple Account Balance Before Changing Countries

Official steps to use up leftover App Store credit in the US, handle pennies that cannot buy anything, and prepare to change your Apple Account country or region.

How can I clear my Apple Account balance?

Check your balance in the App Store, spend it on eligible Apple purchases, and check again. If the remaining credit is below the cost of a single item, Apple says to contact Apple Support. Balance Reset can plan optional App Store purchases but cannot clear your balance automatically.

Quick answer: three ways to deal with leftover credit

  1. Spend the credit on eligible apps, in-app items or Apple services in your current storefront.
  2. Plan smaller purchases when ordinary prices leave an awkward amount. Balance Reset shows available Tree Pack prices and lets you choose which Apple purchases to make.
  3. Contact Apple Support if your remaining balance is less than the price of a single item. This is Apple’s official guidance, not a workaround.

These steps help with the balance issue. They do not automatically change your country or override Apple’s other requirements.

Step 1: check the exact Apple Account amount

On iPhone, open App Store → your photo or initials. Apple shows a balance below your name if funds remain. Write down the exact amount and currency. An App Store credit balance is different from the balance in your bank or Apple Cash.

See Apple’s instructions for checking your balance. You can also read our illustrated step-by-step guide.

Step 2: use remaining credit on eligible purchases

You can spend eligible Apple Account credit in the App Store and on certain Apple services. If you use Balance Reset, enter your balance manually. The app uses the prices visible in your App Store storefront to suggest a possible Tree Pack combination.

All purchases are real Apple in-app purchases. You always review and confirm them; the app never deducts money without your action. Purchase denominations and taxes may make an exact $0.00 result impossible.

Step 3: handle cents or pennies that are too small

If you have $0.01, $0.03, or another amount smaller than the least expensive item available to your account, buying a single item may not be possible. Do not assume an app can directly charge an arbitrary number of cents. Apple says to contact Support when the remaining balance is below the cost of one item.

See our separate guide for tiny leftover balances.

Step 4: finish the region-change checklist

Before changing storefronts, Apple also tells you to resolve certain subscriptions, pending purchases, preorders and refunds and to review Family Sharing. A new-region payment method may be required. After clearing the balance, follow Apple’s official country-change instructions, or our region-change checklist.

What Balance Reset does—and does not do

Balance Reset is an independent iPhone/iPad utility for planning optional in-app purchases; each Tree Pack also grows a virtual forest on the Moon. It cannot see your account balance, transfer credit, issue refunds, or guarantee that your region change will succeed.

Important: Balance Reset does not read your Apple Account, perform a direct balance write-off, or guarantee country-change eligibility. Each purchase must be authorized through Apple.
